Day 1

Arrival in Paro and Transfer to Thimphu

  • Activity: Arrive at Paro International Airport and transfer to Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu. Rest and prepare for the trek ahead.

First Trekking Day – Genekha Village (2,700 m) to Gur (3,600 m)

  • Ascent: ~900 m
  • Descent: Minimal
  • Approximate Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
  • Description: Begin your trek from Genekha Village, ascending through dense forests and rhododendron groves. Reach Gur campsite, nestled amidst beautiful alpine meadows with spectacular mountain views.
  • Overnight: Camping at Gur

Second Trekking Day – Gur (3,600 m) to UthsoTsho (3,870 m)

  • Ascent: ~270 m
  • Descent: Minimal
  • Approximate Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
  • Description: Trek gently uphill through pristine wilderness to UthsoTsho, a serene glacial lake surrounded by stunning peaks. Enjoy the tranquility of this sacred spot.
  • Overnight: Camping near UthsoTsho

Rest Day at UthsoTsho

  • Activity: Take a well-deserved rest day to relax, explore nearby nature, or meditate by the lake. Prepare for the upcoming trek segments.

Third Trekking Day – UthsoTsho to Panka (3,600 m)

  • Ascent: Minimal
  • Descent: ~270 m
  • Approximate Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
  • Description: Begin descending gradually from UthsoTsho to Panka, passing through beautiful valleys and traditional Bhutanese villages. Enjoy the changing landscapes as you trek.

Fourth Trekking Day – Panka (3,600 m) to Talakha (3,450 m)

  • Ascent: Minimal
  • Descent: ~150 m
  • Approximate Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
  • Description: Continue your trek towards Talakha, winding through forests and open pastures. Camp near Talakha amid breathtaking natural surroundings.
  • Overnight: Camping at Talakha

Final Trekking Day – Talakha (3,450 m) to Chamgang (2,800 m)

  • Ascent: Minimal
  • Descent: ~650 m
  • Approximate Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
  • Description: Descend into Chamgang village, crossing diverse terrains from alpine to sub-tropical. Celebrate the completion of your trek with a warm Bhutanese welcome.
  • Overnight: Guesthouse or camping in Chamgang

Thimphu to Punakha for Sightseeing

  • Altitude: Thimphu (2,350 m) → Punakha (1,200 m)
  • Activity: Drive to Punakha, the ancient capital, to visit Punakha Dzong and nearby attractions. Enjoy scenic views of the fertile valley. Return to Thimphu for overnight stay.
  • Overnight: Hotel in Thimphu
  • Hiking Time: Minimal (sightseeing)

Transfer to Paro for Monastery Exploration

  • Altitude: Thimphu (2,350 m) → Paro (2,200 m)
  • Activity: Drive to Paro and visit historic sites such as Rinpung Dzong and local museums. Relax and prepare for the next day’s hike.

Hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery

  • Ascent: ~900 m (from Paro Valley floor)
